Objectives
The major objectives of SPICE project are:
  • to broaden the group’s accomplished research innovation and engineering capacity. This will be achieved by unifying laboratory strengths of three different laboratories, by mobilizing our resources to visit first-class European and US institutions such as MIT and University of Zurich and by inviting or hiring top class researchers from abroad. As a result, scientific expertise in space internetworking will benefit directly from the participating laboratories of programming languages and data processing, parallel and distributed computing, security and algorithms. We also plan to form a strong alliance among Greek universities and research institutes on emerging networking technologies.
  • to establish a permanent quality framework for innovative research activities in the convergence region of Thrace, Greece, through the development of a Space Internetworking Center. This will produce a permanent agenda of research activities, including participation in research proposals, consulting of major agencies, and creating alliances and collaboration for long-term scientific objectives.
  • to support a revolutionary scientific agenda that boosts European competitiveness and supports a wide spectrum of applications: from earth disruptive communications through to space communications, space-data exploitation and space informatics, in general.
