Infrastructure

Space Internetworking Center facilities are located within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of DUTH. SPICE consists of two state-of-the-art laboratories, one presentation room and a meeting room. The pictures below depict SPICE core facilities:

Furthermore, SPICE infrastructure is cutting-edge both in terms of hardware and software, including a state-of-the-art DTN testbed and specialized hardware and software to accurately emulate space communications.

 

In particular, SPICE infrastructure includes:

  • a fifteen-node DTN testbed in a rack 
  • 10 mobile DTN nodes
  • 36 workstations
  • 4 servers
  • one high-performance computer
  • networking equipment (firewall, routers, switches)
  • 2 interactive boards
  • 2 TVs
  • constant connection to Hellas Sat satellite
  • Satellite Tool Kit (STK) simulation software
  • ESA Portable Satellite Simulator (EPSS) and CORTEX CRT system to emulate TM/TC link layer space protocols.
